My favorite "free wi-fi" restaurant is swarming with all sizes and shapes of people today. Several days a week this food establishment offers a deal of the day. I know, fast food isn't actually good for us, however, it is sometimes fast and usually inexpensive. Throw in the "free wi-fi" with the low cost and then add a bonus of being in the area I frequent (near the Post Office and close to home) and you have my reasons for being here. I must admit that, if you really pay attention, there is free entertainment to be had as well. Although today is Wednesday, let me back up and begin our adventures with Monday!
Monday's special, here in fast food land, is Chicken Nuggets for .99. I never realized there were so many fans of this "culinary delight" among the geriatric set!! Oddly, this comforts me as I am on the verge myself. Most of the crowd is probably 10 - 15 years my senior which makes me the young chick on the block! I feel as though I am seeing a glimpse of my future. I can see it now, me in my jeans and sneakers munching on nuggets (preservatives increase your lifespan, right?) and posting on Facebook. Sadly, my non-fast food loving friends will be gone as they missed out on those wonderful "preservatives"! But anyway back to my tale! If you glance around you see a lot of older couples. Some are sweet like a romantic movie while others appear to have walked out of a Stephen King book. It's interesting to imagine what let them to this day in fast food land. I suspect that, in most cases, it's mostly the economy and a tiny budget. But, who knows, maybe they are just reliving those playgound moments while dipping those nuggets into various sauces and sipping the oh so sweet "sweet tea"!
Tuesday is also a "deal day", with Happy Meals being the coveted menu item! And I must say that Happy Meals aren't just for kids anymore!! There is even a somewhat sad attempt at healthy, with the options of apple slices instead of fries, or milk as your choice of drink. And, yes, you are fully entitled to the toy option as well! But, as I listen, I hear the same story again and again; "It's for the grandchild". I often envision a collection of assorted Happy Meal toys proudly displayed on a prominent shelf in the home of any particular patron who choose to order the deal of the day! Strangely enough, I rarely see any kids during the afternoon hours. Perhaps they are waiting for the dinner hour!
Moving on to Wednesday, did I mention this appears to be the most beloved deal day?? Burgers and Cheeseburger are available for a greatly reduced price! Today it is as though I walked into a combination daycare/elementary school/high school party!! The Playground area is jumping as little ones climb higher and higher while screaming at the top of their lungs. The daily deal is a lost cause with them as it's the draw of the chance to run wild that thrills! The Elementary school group is a mixed bunch with only about a third still small enough to hit the Playgound. As for the High Schoolers, they are spread out in little cliques throughout the place, making sure to keep as far away from the Parent Units as possible! And lastly, we have the Parent Units who are probably the only ones actually eating the meal deal. After all, wasting food, no matter how tasteless it is, is not an option. I do actually like the Wednesday entertainment as it takes me back to a time when my now adult children were racing around and I was oh so much younger and peppier! If you too really enjoy Wednesdays, you can see a similar performance every Sunday as the same daily deal applies!!
Sadly, I must pack up my laptop and leave the Wednesday Bliss behind as I have other matters to attend to. So, in closing, I ask you dear friends, how many places can you find that offer free wi-fi, cheap food, and free entainment all in one place?? And today I received an added bonus, the headache from hell! Oh well, guess you can't have it all!
Much love. light, and positive energy, as well as brightest blessings to you and yours!
